PhD position in Managing drained peatland forests for improved benefits

Job description We seek a talented and motivated PhD student with a strong interest in boreal peatland and/or forest ecosystem services, with a particular focus on the carbon (C) cycle and biodiversity. This PhD project will assemble a novel empirical database on C balance and biodiversity in peatland forests across boreal Sweden managed through rewetting or continuous cover forestry (CCF). The resulting dataset will enable evaluation of how these management strategies influence C sequestration and biodiversity. Ultimately, the project will provide urgently needed decision support for governmental agencies and forest stakeholders to develop optimized strategies for boreal peatland forest management.
