PhD Research Position (OpenFOAM Nanoparticle transport)

URGENT: Fully Funded PhD Research Position OpenFOAM • Biomedical CFD • Drug Delivery • AI/ML Mahidol University, Thailand × Macquarie University, Australia The CFD & Energy Research Group, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University, is urgently seeking a motivated PhD candidate for the research project: “Physics-Informed AI and OpenFOAM Modelling for Therapeutic Particle Transport in Vascular Systems” *** Research Scope *** The project will integrate: OpenFOAM and biomedical CFD Lagrangian/DPM particle tracking Therapeutic drug and nanoparticle transport Particle deposition in vascular systems Physics-informed AI and machine learning CFD model development, verification, and optimization Preferred Background Applicants with experience in OpenFOAM and CFD, particularly DPM/Lagrangian particle injection, are strongly encouraged to apply. Experience in biomedical flows, C++, Python, AI/ML, optimization, or high-performance computing (HPC) will be an advantage. *** Funding and Study Pathway *** Funding is available from September 2026. First 1.5 years — Mahidol University, Thailand Monthly stipend of THB 14,000 Full tuition-fee support Access to CFD and HPC facilities Following 1.5 years — Macquarie University, Australia The successful candidate may undertake approximately 18 months of study and research at Macquarie University under a full scholarship at the applicable Australian scholarship rate, subject to scholarship selection and approval. Before applying for the Macquarie University scholarship, the candidate is expected to: Publish at least one Q1 international journal paper Obtain an IELTS overall score of at least 6.5 Satisfy all other admission and scholarship requirements This pathway may lead to a Cotutelle/Joint PhD or Double Degree, subject to institutional approval and applicable agreements. Research opportunities may also be available at other Mahidol University MOU partner universities.
