We are hiring a postdoctoral researcher specialising in medieval stained glass to join the ANR-funded VitrAGE project, investigating the evolution of glassmaking techniques and recipes used in stained glass windows. The position is hosted at the Institut de Recherche sur les Archéomatériaux (IRAMAT-CEB, CNRS) in Orléans, within a collaborative consortium including IMPMC (CNRS / Sorbonne Université / MNHN) and the Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris (IPGP). 🔬 Research topics include: • Evolution of glass compositions and raw materials in medieval stained glass • Compositional analysis using techniques such as LA-ICP-MS and portable XRF • Optical absorption spectroscopy and experimental reproductions to investigate colour generation • Development of an open database of stained glass compositions and analytical data • Laboratory and in situ analyses of historic stained glass 📍 Location: Orléans (France), with collaboration and possible work periods in Paris 📅 Start date: June 2026 ⏳ Duration: 12 months 🗓 Application deadline: 21 March 2026 We are looking for candidates with a PhD in a relevant field (e.g., inorganic chemistry, physical chemistry, archaeometry, or archaeological science) and experience in materials characterisation and analytical techniques. 📎 Full details and application:
