Summer School on Living Active Matter 2026
CY Cergy Paris University
France
Deadline: Apr 15, 2026
Details
We are pleased to announce the Summer School on Living Active Matter 2026, to be held at CY Cergy Paris University (France) from 13 to 31 July 2026.
This interdisciplinary school will bring together PhD students and postdoctoral researchers from physics, biology, and related fields to explore fundamental aspects of living and synthetic active systems. The program will focus on how active matter generates, organizes, and transmits collective behavior far from equilibrium, spanning biological self-organization to intelligent and information-driven dynamics.
Main topics include:
– Phase separation in active systems
– Polar active fluids
– Intelligent active matter
– Non-reciprocal active matter
– Disordered active systems
– Motility assays and bacterial systems
– Information propagation in active systems
Confirmed lecturers:
– Michael Cates (UK)
– Hugues Chaté (France)
– Eric Clément (France)
– Zvonimir Dogic (USA)
– Erwin Frey (Germany)
– Gerhard Gompper (Germany)
– Hartmut Löwen (Germany)
– Julien Tailleur (USA)
– Kazumasa Takeuchi (Japan)
The program will combine lectures with hands-on research projects for in-person participants.
